Political Correctness

2001

In today's world, the socially dominant, socially acceptable way of behaving, speaking, and writing is called political correctness.  No telling what they call it by the time you read this, but it will be the same - only different.

Each generation has it's own norms and mores, some of which seem quite strange, but all of which are dominant in their time.

Political correctness is a fancy way of engineering group madness.  Everyone speaks of inclusion while they separate themselves into their special interest groups.  Essentially, being politically correct means that you don't think, speak, or act outside the defined perimeters of the society.  The perimeters are being defined by the special interest groups, which are fragments of the society, who somehow feel disenfranchised.

Here are some examples of special interest groups and their agendas.  Someday people will laugh at how foolish we Americans were to behave in such a way, but, if they knew the true damage that the proponents of these ideas caused - both real and imagined - they would not think it funny, but tragic.

The Hyphens.

These are the most dangerous people to this ideal we call America and most are just out-and-out rat bastards.  They are divisive and mean and smile in you face telling you how wonderful you are as they're friends are behind you looting your house.

The ideal we have here in our republic is that we are all one people.  Sure, there are a lot of changes due and a lot of nasty things that we have done to one another over the years, but the common guy like me doesn't look at this world of ours in shades of color but in shades of character.

The hyphens don't want to belong to the big picture and be a part of the growth and expansion of rights to all.  They want growth and rights to their particular hyphenation, and all others are on their own.  These are the put your race here-Americans, put your religion, sex, age, national origin or shoe size here-Americans, put your favorite movie here-Americans, put your whatever here-Americans.

Some want apologies for past wrongs done to their hyphen, others want reparation in the form of money, or land, or separate nation, others want special programs exclusive to their members, others want special programs taken away for other hyphens, others want money taken from other hyphens, others don't know what they want but know they want something.

The Right Wing.

The right wing is a political idea and living agenda within the established political parties.  They prefer to be called "conservatives". They are the persons who are adamantly anti-abortion, anti-gun control, pro-prayer in public places (to include schools), anti-gay, anti-Jew, anti-anything but white bread-Jesus people.  They promote the exaltation of the Anglo-Saxon Protestant male and his domination over women, all creatures, and the earth.  They loathe gays and any sexual orientation beyond heterosexual unions for procreation.  They oppose birth control and condoms.  They want to censor what you read and what your children read.  They are creationists and loathe the theory of evolution.  They are for narrow thought and strict, defined, and specific curriculums for all public schools, which of course, they define.

The Untra-Right Wing.

Not much different from the right wing, only a bit more intense.  They believe in the greatness and the vision of Adolph Hitler.  They do not believe in the holocaust and believe the Jews to be the vermin of the earth.  They advocate violence and the export of all black people to the African continent.  They believe that blacks, Jews, Gypsies and all other minority groups are sub-human, and they loathe the gay population.  They believe in the sanctity of murder to rid the world of these vermin and to induce a race riot between all blacks and whites so whites can dominate the world without the vermin of the black man.

Left Wing.

The left wing is a political idea and living agenda within the established political parties.  They prefer to be called "liberals".  They are the persons who are adamantly "pro-choice" rather than "pre-abortion".  They are anti-gun and for strong gun control by the government, against prayer in schools because of the constitutions separation of church-and-state.  They are pro-inclusion, to include all gays, all religions, all sexes, all races, all ethnicity's, all ages, all national origins, all sexual preferences, and everything else into the group dynamic we call the United States.  (I believe they mean all-inclusive, with the exception of the right-wing, but they don't say so, at least not out-loud so I can hear).

Animal Rights.

Same as Ultra-Right Wing, with changes made to reflect animal rights.  They believe in animal sovereignty over mans.  They promote violence against humans to achieve the goal of freeing all animals from the food chain and as pets. Not much different from the right wing, only a bit more intense.  They believe in the greatness and the vision of Free Willy (a real bad movie - this is jocularity - a pun).  They do not believe in the slaughter of animals to feed humans and believe the humans who eat meat to be the vermin of the earth.  They advocate violence and the export of all people who eat meat.  They believe meat-eaters sub-human, and they loath the ranching population.  They believe in the sanctity of murder to rid the world of these vermin and to induce a race riot between all vegetarians and non-vegetarians so "vegans" can dominate the world without the vermin of carnivorous man.

There are just too many of these groups to mention, but they all have one thing in common, and that is they are all narcissistic.  They can sit for hours and contemplate their own navels in the context of their agenda.  They don't reach out to anyone except to slap them.  They are intolerance, narrow-minded and selfish.  They will not debate and have a dialog but choose rather to yell, fight and scream.  They do little that is constructive and claim their divine right to their acts of destruction.  They are a true waste of space.

Ism's

The second most dangerous people to this ideal we call America are the Ism's.  They are racism, sexism, ageism, religionism, and anything else that ends in "ism".  "ism" means "relating to", and when it is in relation to a narrow focus and fevered agenda, that can not be good, no matter how it is packaged.

Here are a couple of isms that vexed me during my career.

First, I missed three jobs because of "affirmative action".  See affirmative action is a political idea (of the left wing in the 1960' S), where special privilege is granted to those persons in the United States who are persons of color (not white).  The reasoning is that anyone who is not white and male has an inordinate opposing force placed upon him or her by society in general.  So, in the idea that "if everything else is equal", race should not be a defining factor in the hiring or firing of any person.  Sounds good, huh?

Worked fine for a while, but then there were hyphens that weren't satisfied.  Things weren't going fast enough for them.  So, now the left wing decided to put a few more teeth into the legislation and mandated quotas.  The quotas were only for Federal jobs, but, you guessed it, pretty soon the mandate went to nearly every employer.  Then, "everything being equal" was no longer true, because the quota was the supreme authority.  When the Equal Rights Office of the United States came a calling, you, as an employer, had darn well better have your quota of minority hires or be able to explain why.  So, then a phenomenon arose that became known as "reverse discrimination".  This means, that even if an "under-qualified" hyphen applied for a job and a "overqualified" white male was considered for the job - the employer felt bound to select the hyphen first - just because of the fear of the government.

Firemen and policemen are tested physically, mentally and psychologically before being considered for a job.  The tests are extensive.  When all is said and done, everyone's points are added up and each person is placed on a list according to their individually earned points.  If I got 100%, I would be on the top.  If you got 75%, you would be somewhere in the top 25%.  If a hyphen got 45%, they would be listed as one of the top three.  Makes sense, huh?  So, a guy who had the ability to perform in the bottom half of a group, and maybe not that well there, is now in the lead, just because he is hyphened.  This made people mad, especially those who were in third place before they became fourth, and those who got mad were called "racists" or "sexist" or "whateverists".  They weren't then, but many grew to be.  These lists were used to hire folks.  They always took the top three.  The number three who became number four was out-of-consideration.  That is why people got mad and some are still mad.

I was not considered for three jobs in my career because of affirmative action.  Maybe more, but I know of three.  One in Texas with a county government and twice in Tacoma, with the City for City jobs.  Sure, none of them will admit so, and it is easier to just say I am a racist than to tell the truth, but it has happened to me.

I was called into the department heads office at Tacoma Community College because I was accused of being racist on my grading.  Both times the students were hyphen.  Both times they missed more than 40% of the classes and did about 50% of the work.  Both were on Federal retraining programs specifically for hyphens.  I gave them the grade they earned.  They said I graded them poorly because they were hyphens.  The Feds forgave their training expenses and everyone was happy.  Except me.

I still find it hard to believe that I had to stand accused of these ridiculous charges, which were questionable in motive, just because I was a white male.  I am not naïve, and know that the attacks were not personal.  They were the easiest way for the hyphens to get off the hook for their retraining costs because unless they could provide due cause as to why they got bad grades they would have to pay the government back. The slickest route is racism because everyone was afraid to go there.  So, I got the label and they got the cash.  I am sure they are blissfully unaware of the evil that they do.  See, I could not care less about what they think about me, but I sure do care about the content of their character, and that is the appalling thing.

Content of Character

Most hyphens love to call upon the name of The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King.  Everyone loves to point to him as his or her poster child.  The thing is, he aint.  They don't seem to truly have the faintest idea of who the man was or what he stood for.  They are just happy that a hyphen has a holiday named after him and that is good enough for them.  Well, it should not be enough for them or anyone else.

This man stood for non-violent civil rights.  Period.  He said that a man be judged by the content of his character not the color of his skin.  Most hyphens have that turned around.  He lived for civil rights.  Now the hyphens are looking for government rights in the place of civil ones.  They just don't get it.

Civil rights are those due to a person for the simple reason that they are due him.  Irrespective of any of the "isms" or hyphens, each person is due the right because they are due the right.  He believed that all men are created equal and lived his life and gave his life showing that purpose.  His point is we, us'n fellows, we little guys, you and me, the guy on the corner, the bus driver, the guy sweeping the street should give each one and another the inalienable right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  Period.

He knew that men's hearts had to be changed not laws.  Sure, laws being changed and pompous speeches made some of the old farts feel good, but Martin was a realist, and he knew that men had to change their hearts and their heads would follow.  He also knew, that you start those changes at the bottom of the ladder - not the top.

First came the marches, which became parades.  The parades became caravans and the caravans, movements.  The movement became a truth and people's hearts were changed.  Things started to be different.  The old guard began to falter.

Then came the hyphens.  After Martin was murdered the hyphens came flying in like vultures and started to redefine who Martin was.  Well, not so much Martin but the cause.  See Martin now was the poster boy and the cause became the movement.  The old guard got scared and started to block the movements' way.  That is where we are today.  Blocked.

So white people dance dances and speak the "Black-English Vernacular" of the inner city, rap music abounds, yadda-yadda-yadda.  One well known hyphen was on Charlie Rose the other night and said "I would love to be white, just for a moment - just so I could feel how it feels  -  to wish you were black".  Doesn't echo Martin to me, but then, he is a poster boy now and I am a racist.

A Selfish Generation

Your fathers generation has been called "generation X".  The "X" means "nothing".  Before them was the Baby-Boomers, then the Hippie, then the Yippie and then the X'rs.  It means that they have not gotten or accepted a specific identity.  The Baby-boomers were the generation following the second world war.  After the troops came home their was a "baby boom".  The Hippies were the "drug, sex and rock and rollers of the 60's.  Then the Yippies were the money makers and then the X'rs who did nothing but sit around and play Nintendo and complain about being bored.

There is little in this life today that vexes me more than political correctness.  I think that the reason it is so upsetting is that it is all make believe.  It is just a façade pretending to hold substance and everyone seems to perpetuate the myth.  Really, there is nothing there, like the emperor's clothes - nothing.  But, it seems like there is a mass hysteria in the world trying to convince themselves that it is there.

I would rather hear just what the speaker is saying - that is the colloquialism - because it let's me know just where I stand.  That way there are no surprises.  I may detest what is said, but I understand the speaker much better.

George Wallace was the governor of Alabama during the civil rights marches in the 60's.  He personally stood in front of the doors of the University of Alabama when the first blacks were to be admitted.  Never before was a black allowed into the University as a student.

Governor Wallace stood, blocking the door, and refused entry to the "niggers".  The National Guard had to be called in to escort the students through the doors.

With George, you always knew where you stood.
